KlinoNsorb®
KlinoNsorb® is a natural additive for litter in poultry houses and serves to reduce ammonia formation and emissions as well as to improve barn air and housing conditions.
The product is based on natural zeolite (clinoptilolite) of sedimentary origin, which acts as a natural ion exchanger. The specially prepared zeolite possesses the property of specifically and selectively binding ammonium (NH₄⁺), which is generated by the animals’ excretions.
Due to the practically irreversible binding of the ammonium, the conversion to ammonia (NH₃) is prevented. As a result, KlinoNsorb® effectively contributes to lowering the ammonia concentration in the barn air, relieving the animals, and reducing emissions into the environment.
Function
-
Binds ammonium (NH₄⁺) specifically and selectively in the litter.
-
Prevents the conversion of ammonium to ammonia (NH₃).
-
Reduces the ammonia concentration in the barn air.
-
Relieves the animals and reduces stress caused by ammonia exposure.
-
Sustainably reduces ammonia emissions into the environment.
How KlinoNsorb® works
KlinoNsorb® is based on natural zeolite (clinoptilolite) of sedimentary origin, which acts as a natural ion exchanger. After mining, the material is specially processed and thereby obtains the ability to bind ammonium specifically and selectively.
The ammonium resulting from the animals’ excretions is bound in the litter. This practically irreversible binding prevents the conversion of ammonium to gaseous ammonia. As a result, ammonia release is significantly reduced and the air quality in the barn is sustainably improved.
Effect on Animal Health and Environment
Increased ammonia concentrations in poultry houses are considered harmful to health starting from 20–25 ppm. They can cause inflammation of the mucous membranes and eyes and reduce the animals’ performance upon prolonged exposure.
By reducing the ammonia load, KlinoNsorb® contributes to stress reduction, strengthening of the animals’ immune system, and lowering of emissions into the environment.
Application and Effect
KlinoNsorb® is spread evenly over the litter before the animals are moved in. The material is granular (0.5–1.0 mm) and therefore low-dust, which enables simple and safe application.
It is recommended to distribute approx. 300 g per m² over the litter. In damp or wet areas, additional scattering can be done during the fattening period if necessary.
Through application in the litter, the resulting ammonium is bound. This reduces ammonia release and sustainably improves the air quality in the barn.

F.A.Q.
KlinoNsorb® is a natural additive for litter in poultry houses. It is used to bind ammonium and reduce the formation of ammonia in the barn air.
The product is based on natural zeolite (clinoptilolite), which acts as an ion exchanger. It binds ammonium specifically and practically irreversibly, thereby preventing the conversion to gaseous ammonia.
Yes, the costs are less than 3 cents (or rappen) per animal and fattening cycle. This makes KlinoNsorb® a cost-effective solution for reducing ammonia emissions.
