Klinofeed®
Klinofeed® is a natural mineral feed additive based on clinoptilolite, used to bind ammonia and undesirable substances in the digestive tract of livestock.
The product is applied as a functional and technological additive in compound feeds, improving feed quality, pellet stability, and overall animal welfare.
Thanks to its natural mineral structure, Klinofeed® helps stabilise feed composition and supports a consistent feed flow during storage, transport, and processing. This makes the additive ideally suited for use in modern feeding systems and in compound feed production, where consistent quality, process reliability, and efficient feed utilisation are key priorities.
Function
-
Selective binding of ammonium (NH₄⁺) in the digestive tract
-
Reduction of the animal’s toxic load
-
Acts as a binder and flow aid in feed mixtures
-
Improves flowability in silos, conveying systems, and dosing units
-
Enhances pellet quality and process stability in feed production
How Klinofeed® works
Klinofeed® is a crystalline silicate based on clinoptilolite with a unique porous structure. Approximately 50% of its structure consists of micropores with a uniform diameter of about 4 angstroms. Through a specialised manufacturing process, the clinoptilolite is activated, enabling the pores to selectively bind ammonium (NH₄⁺), harmful substances, and free water molecules.
These properties make Klinofeed® a highly effective functional feed additive. It acts both as a binding agent and as a flow aid. The very fine milling results in an exceptionally large active surface area of more than 500 m² per gram, significantly enhancing its effectiveness. In addition, Klinofeed® can be used as a cost-efficient aid in the pelletisation of animal feed.
Safety and Quality
Klinofeed® is a high-quality clinoptilolite that is free from critical contaminants such as heavy metals, dioxins, or other toxic substances. Production is carried out under a very strict quality assurance (QS) system.
Through thermal treatment at temperatures exceeding 400 °C, Klinofeed® is fully sterilised. Each batch is tested, and every delivery is fully traceable thanks to a batch system, ensuring consistently high quality and maximum safety in feed applications.
Application
100 grams per cow per day
20 grams
From the first feeding: Kalbosan (Klinofeed® with PSB yeast extract)
-
Piglets: mix 5 kg per tonne of feed
-
Sows: mix 5 kg per tonne of feed
-
Fattening pigs: mix 4–6 kg per tonne of feed
3–5 kg per tonne of feed
- Klinofeed® can be used in all types of feed.
- Klinofeed® does not bind nutritional components such as vitamins, trace elements, amino acids, etc.
- Klinofeed® does not cause any interactions within the feed or in the animal.
- Klinofeed® does not bind antibiotics.

The difference between Klinofeed® and other products
Klinofeed® is a multifunctional additive:
-
01The crystalline structure and mineral composition
-
02High degree of purity (sterile)
-
03Contains no “fibres” (no risk of silicosis)
-
04High proportion of crystalline silicate of approx. 90%
-
05Crystal structure diameter of 4 angstroms (0.4 millionths of a millimetre)
-
06Binding capacity: approx. 23,500 mg NH₄⁺ per kg, with a very large surface area of approx. 500 m² per gram
-
07Selective ion exchange sequence: NH₄⁺ » K » Na » Mg » etc.
-
08Particle size distribution: 90% below 100 microns
-
09Different grain sizes: The right granulation for every application.
The solution
What can you expect from Klinofeed®?
Klinofeed improves the flowability of compound feed and reduces bridging and caking in silos and conveying systems. As a natural flow aid, it ensures uniform dosing of components—even in fat-rich or moist mixtures. In addition, Klinofeed acts as a pelleting aid: it optimises pressability, enhances pellet quality, and reduces abrasion. In this way, Klinofeed supports efficient and trouble-free feed production.
